Policeman Shot NYSC Member – Confirmed Dead

A Policeman attached to the Bayelsa police command has during a heated argument shot NYSC member (Corp member). The policeman who as at press time of this information his name is yet to be announced has been arrested and taken into custody for suspicion of Discreditable Conduct and Unlawful Use of his Firearm.

The incident leading to his arrest happened on 6th January, 2020 when the police personnel attached to a leading commercial bank in Yenegoa had an altercation with a driver of a commercial bus over parking rights.
In the ensuing argument, the policeman allegedly pulled the trigger of his rifle injuring the driver and a NYSC member. This altercation allegedly left the Corps member dead, while the bus driver is in critical condition fighting for his life at the Federal Medical Centre.

The suspect was arrested on the orders of the state commissioner of police and is currently in detention at the State Criminal Intelligence and Investigation Department.
